BOARD Armed Forces Fund (LTAT) and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has signed an agreement to finance the construction of hostels to provide more housing to university students as well as raise funds for scholarships to students who need.
IIUM Rector, Professor Datuk Sri Dr . Zaleha Kamaruddin said the allocation of RM5 million donated by the LTAT will be used to build a hostel which will be rented out.rental revenue collected each year will be named scholarship Scholarship LTAT Ummatic .
“A total of 50 poor students will be selected to receive scholarships IIUM is based on the performance and capability of the applicant concerned.

Each hostel block has a four-storey building and each floor has four rooms with four individual units.Overall
individual rooms available for each block is 64 units at the rate of RM600 per month rent.
All rooms have two bathrooms, one set of cooking space and a hall.
Construction projects that are sponsored
LTAT will start as soon as possible and according to plan the project will be completed by August 2013.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ahmad Zahid IIUM and LTAT commended for implementing a project providing dormitory facilities through the endowment of innovative approaches.
“I guess this is the first project in the world and in Malaysia as contributors to come forward to collaborate with institutions of higher learning (IHL) in an effort to develop hostel facilities to students and the results can be also created a ongoing scholarship fund (Perpetual) to students, “he said.
Based on the record IIUM, the total now it students reach 30,000 across five campuses covering hers.
For the main campus in Gombak, IIUM has about 20,000 students taking courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Of this amount, a total of 14.600 staying at the hostel.

IIUM still offers two sponsored block for any individual or corporation that cares for the struggle to develop community education in the country.
