KUCHING – Night World Harvest Festival peak response (WHF) 2012 organized by the Sarawak Cultural Village which is scheduled on May 26 is expected to take place in the atmosphere and will attract over 5,000 visitors.
General Manager of the Sarawak Cultural Village, Jane Lian Labang said the annual event has gained a place not only among locals but also in popularity among tourists from abroad.
He said the program was originally started with the name Gawai Tourism Night in 1998 but was changed to the WHF in 2006 following the overwhelming response from various quarters.
“World Harvest Festival held in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak celebrates victory after the expiration of the rice harvest season and we try to make this event an international program.
“This is because the harvest is not only in Sarawak but in other countries also have the same activity. We would like to start this festival as a model to the response, other celebrations, “he told Kosmo! here.
