STONE PAHAT 14th Feb. – Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) will introduce the Railway Engineering degree course, the first program of its kind in the country with the first intake starting in September.
UTHM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Dalimin Noh said the program will take two years to be executed in full and part-time under the purview of the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.“In order to realize this plan, UTHM experts have implemented a comprehensive action plan since last year, including making visits and discussions with government agencies, companies, research institutes and industry-related university train.
“Among the Sheffield Hallam University, Scomi Engineering, a Malaysian Railway Academy (MyRA), Moscow State University for Railway Engineering and a number of rail transportation industry in Russia, “he said in a statement. He said, UTHM also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Infrastructure Company Limited (Infrastructure) on January 30 last to produce more skilled workers, particularly in the field of railway engineering.
Co-operation will involve the use of facilities and expertise UTHM and academic programs, the acquisition of academic and research facilities in the area of rail transport technology.
The MOU also provides an opportunity for employees of the rail infrastructure to pursue the five places allocated to company employees out of every 20 students of the course.
Infrastructure is offering jobs to students who had excellent results UTHM and have the authority to engage in the industry.

infrastructure is a government-owned company established by the Ministry of Finance to facilitate, implement and expedite infrastructure projects approved by the government.
Infrastructure and its group of companies is the owner and operator some public transport services in the Klang Valley, including the light rail transit (LRT) the Ampang and Kelana Jaya, Kuala Lumpur monorail system and bus network in the Klang Valley and Penang, Langkawi cable car service.
