14th Feb. – The Education Ministry is looking to send English teachers (BI) with training in foreign languages so that their share could be strengthened.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the proposal was discussed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and agreed in principle.“Maybe this way it can provide opportunities for English teachers we are exposed to pure native language in their home country and if that’s the case, may Our teachers are better educated and more confident to speak English.
“But first we have to study this matter good or bad, whether it involves a high cost or not,” he said during a dialogue session at the Senior Educators Enhancing Professionalism of the State of Kedah and Perlis in the House of Vision here today.
At the ceremony, he also presented support the People’s Religious School / Kafa totaling RM966, 879 as well as assistance for Poor Students Trust Fund ( KWAMP) in 2012 amounted to RM10.22 million and RM2.59 million for the Kedah Perlis.
Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said the still waiting for a report on the performance of pure native teacher placement program to be placed in selected schools by zone to provide guidance to English teachers.
“We want to see first whether this program suitable for teachers and whether it benefits the students in enhancing their English language ability,” he said.
