Export of halal products RM30b


MIHAS 2012 is expected to record sales of RM500 million equivalent statistics in the previous year.

KUALA LUMPUR – The export value for halal products is expected to reach RM33 billion by 2012, about about six percent of the country’s total export value, said Vice President of Operations Developement Halal Industry Corporation. Bhd. (HDC), Mohd. Raimee Tamin.

According to him, the export value for halal products in the last year is estimated at RM30 billion.

“We are aiming for halal export growth of 10 percent for this year, it is based on information from the data system for the halal industry, which began in 2011 in addition to efforts to promote HDC local company to produce halal products for export, “he said at a news conference after the launch of the Halal Malaysia Week 2012 here yesterday.

Present is Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Dr. Wong Lai Sum and HDC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Jamil Bidin.

Halal Malaysia Week 2012 will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in the next 2 to 7 April with various events to promote the halal industry such as Fair Malaysia International Halal (Mihas), the World Halal Research Forum (WHR) and the 2010 World Halal Forum (WHF).
