SEVERAL weeks ago I went to Medan, Indonesia to attend the workshop with colleagues from the Association of Academic Staff Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
Many have asked why we chose field. The answer is because of its low cost flights to Medan and takes only 55 minutes.
Similarly, if I berbengkel in Penang or Langkawi accommodation and meals while the price is much more expensive than both the location in Malaysia. However, there are voices that say: “Do not go getting married in another field.” I immediately answered: “Issh, go berbengkel not going to marry!” Apparently Field is a destination to get married and honeymoon. Many of those in the field because of polygamous marriage. Over the years, I think Thailand is the destination of choice, especially for married couples who want to practice polygamy. According to a friend, not just Thailand, Food and Mecca is also a preferred destination for couples today. Why should ‘run’ away to Thailand or Medan for second or third marriage? Is polygamy legal in Malaysia too kekat that a man who is married is not possible to practice polygamy as not allowed by the court? What is the status of marriage in Thailand or Indonesia or wherever? Polygamy is not new but it is often the most controversial issues in Malaysia. What went wrong somewhere, like polygamy can not be discussed. People say that talking about polygamy as “swallowed my mother died, removed dead father” and usually, women are the main victims. Many women are upset when referred to the issue of polygamy. Polygamy means a marriage which involves more than one wife or husband and the words associated with the word polygamy polyandry which means that women have a husband who is more than one. a more appropriate word is polygyny, but society has become commonplace in Malaysia called as polygamy. Islam allows polygamy based on the texts of the Qur’an in Surah al-Nisa ‘verse 3. We are also reminded by the Prophet SAW, which means: “Any among you who have two wives, and he more than any of them, he will come with his body partially paralyzed on the day of judgment later. ” (Al Shawkawi)Both of these texts shows that Muslim men can marry more than one to four, but he must be fair. If it is not fair that he will incur sin on the Day of Judgement he will run stroke.
Actually, many men see polygamy as an absolute right but not many who understand worship behind polygamy. As explained before this marriage is worship and it must be done in accordance with law and in compliance. When the government through the enactment of the Muslim families make provision for polygamy, many regard it as an effort to control or ban polygamy. There were voices that accused the government decided to ban halal. Not satisfied with these accusations, there are groups who say that these provisions “as the sake of asking. ‘ The reason, men are still allowed to practice polygamy and that provision is not scary or prevent men from marrying more than one. Both views are extreme and wrong.Related posts:
